Challenge

With reduced broadcast coverage and limited stadium attendance as a result of COVID-19, Sydney FC needed to create a captivating live pre-match experience for its expansive fanbase. The challenge was to produce a professional, social media-led show that could seamlessly integrate fan engagement and user generated content (UGC) in real-time, while also showcasing commercial partners and meeting broadcast-quality standards.

Solution

Dizplai delivered a comprehensive solution for Sydney FC’s live pre-match show. The Dizplai platform provided end-to-end interactive media capabilities, including social media integration and a powerful content moderation engine. This allowed producers to aggregate, filter, and publish a range of fan comments and images from Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter directly into the live broadcast.

Additionally, we provided integrated multi-layered broadcast graphics, featuring L3s, animated tickers, and full-screen overlays that seamlessly incorporated sponsor logo placement and sponsored content to fulfil commercial partner requirements. The platform’s browser-accessed input form and data integration capabilities enabled producers to automate and publish data-driven graphics, such as polls, on the fly.

Results

The live pre-match show successfully engaged Sydney FC’s global fanbase, prominently showed partner branding and demonstrated the value of creating a social-first match build-up, leading to results such as: 

  • The first two shows following the restart were viewed by over 15,000 people on Facebook.
