Sports Fan Revenue Calculator
"*" indicates required fields
Your fans are everywhere. You just can’t reach them.
The Sports Fan Revenue Calculator is a free audience growth calculator that shows you exactly how much revenue your anonymous fanbase is costing you. In minutes you’ll have a clear, personalised picture of your untapped fan revenue potential. Use it to make the commercial case for change.
Sports organisations have spent years building audiences on borrowed ground like social platforms, broadcast deals and third-party apps. The result is a sports fan engagement crisis hiding in plain sight.
Our research found that one in three rights holders loses between $1 million and $5 million a year because they can’t identify or directly reach the majority of their audience. 62% estimate that figure at over $100,000 annually. And almost every organisation we spoke to only knows about a quarter of their fanbase by name.
That’s a lot of potential revenue they’re missing out on. The passion is there. What’s missing is the relationship, and the commercial strategy to build it.
How the fan revenue calculator works
Tell us about your audience, your current revenue, and your growth target. The calculator shows you your known versus anonymous fan split, revenue per fan, and the additional annual revenue you could unlock. It takes less than three minutes.
Why fan engagement and revenue are inseparable
Sponsors aren’t buying reach anymore, they’re buying proof. 60% of sports organisations say at least a quarter of their sponsorship renewals now depend on digital fan engagement data, not impressions or viewership numbers.
If you can’t identify your fans, you can’t prove engagement. And if you can’t prove engagement, you’re starting every renewal conversation from a position of weakness.
This is what makes audience engagement the commercial priority it’s become. Not because fans are more important than they used to be (they always were), but because organisations now have the tools to turn that engagement into measurable, monetisable relationships. The ones that move first will own the next decade of sports revenue growth.
The Fan Revenue Calculator quantifies the gap so you can start closing it.
Who is this fan engagement growth calculator for?
It’s been built for mid-to-senior commercial and marketing leads at sports organisations who are under pressure to grow revenue and struggling to prove the value of their audience.
If you’re a Chief Commercial Officer, Head of Marketing, Sponsorship Director, or Fan Engagement Lead, and you’re tired of talking about reach when sponsors want data, this tool is for you.
What happens after you see your number?
Once you’ve run your calculation, you can download the Anonymous Fan Index, the first independent industry benchmark on anonymous fandom in global sport, and the Ultimate Guide with 100 practical tactics to convert anonymous fans into known, revenue-generating communities.
* Indicates a required field. This calculator provides an indicative estimate of potential additional revenue based on growing your known audience. It is designed as a directional business planning tool, not a forecast or guarantee of future performance. The calculations are based on a combination of your peak broadcast viewership (which assumes all the anonymous and known fans you could potentially talk to), social followers and subscribers adjusted to account for overlap across platforms, and first party fan database. Together, these inputs are used to estimate your total audience and the proportion that is currently known versus not directly identifiable.
Revenue inputs include your total annual organisational revenue and the portion generated directly from fans. These figures are used to calculate an average annual revenue per known fan and per non identified fan.Any projected uplift shown is based on your own estimate of potential known audience growth only within a 12 month period and assumes improved conversion of non-identified audiences into known audiences. Results do not account for external factors such as changes in pricing, costs, media rights, market conditions, product mix, operational capacity, anonymous fan growth or execution quality. The calculator caps known audience growth at 70% of peak broadcast viewership data.
This tool should be used as an early indicator of the commercial opportunity associated with strengthening direct fan relationships. Actual outcomes will vary and depend on many additional strategic, operational, and market variables beyond the scope of this calculator.
