Driving Fan Engagement for ITV & The Martin Lewis Money Show
Challenge
When the Martin Lewis Money Show Live faced a last-minute production change due to COVID-19’s stay-at-home orders, ITV and Multistory Media needed to quickly transform their live studio show into a socially-distanced production. The challenge was to connect Martin directly with his viewers at home while generating user-generated content (ugc) and driving audience participation.
Solution
Dizplai provided the ideal solution to empower this fast-paced, live production. Using the hashtag #MartinLewis, viewers were encouraged to submit questions and opinions via Twitter. The Dizplai platform provided seamless social media integration, allowing producers to gather, moderate, and publish the best questions directly to in-studio displays.

This interactive media approach allowed Martin Lewis to highlight and discuss trending topics on a large touchscreen in real-time. This dynamic system was crucial for replacing the live studio audience and ensuring viewers remained the core of Martin’s content.

Results
The Coronavirus-compliant production led to fantastic results, with Anthony Chuck, Production Manager at MultiStory Media, stating, “The team at Dizplai were so supportive of the fast turnaround nature of our production. Offering remote training sessions for our production teams and support throughout the whole process. The system worked without a glitch, and the software assisted us in being able to successfully execute a central part of the programme”.
Furthermore, the campaign successfully leveraged social media to drive a high level of fan engagement and conversation, leading to significant outcomes such as:
- The show proved that by leveraging social media, the audience could engage even more than they would have in a live studio environment
- The hashtag #MartinLewis trended as the third-highest topic in the UK during the show, remaining in the top five for the next five hours.
- Our data integration capabilities supported the live show by providing real-time audience questions and content.
