Contact UsThe 20/21 Premier League season is over, but clubs have certainly not downed tools, as they prepare for the upcoming season where fans look set for a return to the stadium. Wednesday 17 June was a big day on the Calendar – fixtures release day! Fans, pundits, and players are always eager to look out for the big head-to-head matches and who their team will play on the opener.
Following their first season back in the top-flight, Leeds United decided to produce another first, as they streamed their very own fixture reaction show, delivered live on Twitter, YouTube, Facebook Live, and Twitch. The 19-minute show included former players sharing their thoughts on the upcoming season, featuring an L-Graphic that’s synonymous to sports broadcasting. The seamless overlays highlighted a ticker with the full fixture list running across the screen, side-bar with notable upcoming matches, retail promotion, ad-space for sponsors, and a headline graphic showcasing social reaction from fans on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Dizplai’s cloud-based engagement platform was at the centre of the content and visual displays, as producers managed the data from a web browser, sourcing and curating hand-picked fan engagement on social. The fixtures, merchandise ads, and sponsors were simply inputted and queued in the carousel via Dizplai, as the platform ran the HTML Graphics created by Dizplai’s creative services team. Within 12 hours of streaming, the feeds reached up to 36,000 views, including multiple responses and likes from their fans. With the Euros capturing the hearts of football fans across Europe, and beyond, Leeds United produced a reactionary show that continued to build the momentum to the upcoming season.
“The fixture release is an important day for Leeds United fans worldwide, with so much conversation and engagement happening throughout the day, we wanted to ensure we could bring our fans a best-in-class experience across all our digital platforms. Partnering with Dizplai enabled us to visualise the positive messages and give a voice to fans during our digital-only broadcast,” said Aaron Duckmanton, Head of Global Content & Digital Strategy at Leeds United.
